San Antonio Sports all-star basketball game returns with top high school talent

More than 130 standout seniors will take the court in a full day of all-star games, skills contests and competition.

SAN ANTONIO — Some of San Antonio’s top high school basketball talent will take center stage this weekend.

The San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game returns Sunday, April 12, bringing together 134 student-athletes from 59 area high schools for a full day of competition at Northside Sports Gym.

The event will feature Team Blue versus Team White across two divisions—1A through 5A and 6A—with both girls’ and boys’ games in each session.

Session one runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while session two begins at 3:30 p.m. and continues into the evening. The second session also includes a skills challenge and three-point contest, giving fans even more chances to see standout players in action.

Organizers say the event highlights the best senior athletes in the region, selected through nominations from high school coaches and a committee of media members, scouts and former coaches.

Leading the teams are area coaches from across San Antonio:

Team Blue coaches:

  • Isaac Thornton (Boys 1A–5A, Smithson Valley HS)
  • Vanessa Villareal (Girls 1A–5A, Southwest HS)
  • Jaclyn Contreras (Girls 6A, Brennan HS)
  • Lonny Hubbard (Boys 6A, Steele HS)

Team White coaches:

  • Andrew Brewer (Boys 1A–5A, Alamo Heights HS)
  • Ernest Lopez (Girls 1A–5A, McCollum HS)
  • Noe Cantu (Boys 6A, Judson HS)
  • Stephanie Desmarais (Girls 6A, Johnson HS)

The game, now in its third year, aims to showcase local talent while celebrating the athletes’ achievements before they move on to the next level.

Tickets are $20 per session and can be purchased online or at the box office.
