Here’s a sample of what the Spurs said after the game.
Mitch Johnson:
“If someone hadn’t seen us play and they saw us play today just felt really, really bad and they showed why I was disappointed in that because in the second half they flipped it in 180 and it was really, really a joy to watch and experience with them and be a part of.”
“Strides. I think consistency. Again, something we’re always going to push for and want more, but I think this year we are figuring it out, finding it, and we had a bunch of different additions to the team. So again, finding chemistry on both sides of the court. But I think we’ve definitely done a lot of good stuff from, even if you look from last year, we had some really good games as a team. So again, it’s super exciting and I think everyone’s super motivated and ready to keep growing and keep meshing as a team, as an identity in the culture.”
“The fans here are unbelievable. For the first 19 years, the only thing I knew about San Antonio was the river walk and I might not have went down there one time since I lived here. So I got a chance to see more of the city, more of the people, the facility, the staff, the coaches. RC is one-on-one and I really got a chance to see why the Spurs have been the Spurs for so long.”
“I don’t know if there was a specific moment or month that I kind of really just hit the uptick, but I feel like really all season it’s been a trend and progression just with trial and error, playing against the best competition in the world. Only it is only right that you’re going to get better. So just continuing to get those reps. I feel like as the season went on, I was more confident and not second guessing myself when I see reeds and just stuff like that overall. So I feel like just as the season went on, it was just a constant progression.”
Keldon Johnson:
“Having the same role all season and just building on that and really growing my game on and off the court and it was a big change for me last year. That’s no secret, but this year, we faced it head-on, and I just try to be as consistent as possible, not only performance-wise but teammate-wise, being with my teammates and making sure that I’m being a teammate that everybody wants to play with.”
