SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 128-120 at home, led by Jeremy Sochan’s 23 points.
Keldon Johnson scored 18 points, and Chris Paul had 18 points and four assists. Devin Vassell added 20 points and seven rebounds. Stephon Castle finished with 17 and 14 assists, and Harrison Barnes recorded 14. Blake Wesley finished with 10.
The Spurs are 30-39 this season and will take on the Raptors on Sunday night on the road.
Here’s a sample of what the Spurs said after the game.
Mitch Johnson:
“We had some possessions where no one screened, no one touched the paint, no one got to their spots, and they (76ers) capitalized that. And that’s how you can produce runs the wrong way in this league. I thought it was nice to see the response in the fourth quarter, just back playing together and for each other.”
“We just needed to guard and group rebound. So once we got them (76ers) off the offensive glass and got their main guys kind of uncomfortable and off the ball, we started to put away earlier.”
“They went on a little run, we kind of folded a little bit, but then we got back to right where we started. So I think the last six minutes they only scored eight points. So that’s big.”
“I’m not a player that’s going to get like five isolations a game. My style is about being aggressive, being a two-way presence for the team, being the energy, the connector. There’s going to be games like this. It’s about staying the course, and just trusting my teammates, the coaches, everyone around me.”
