SAN ANTONIO — Las Vegas oddsmakers are busy with NBA Draft prop futures and projecting the odds on where Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo could play next should Milwaukee trade him.
And the San Antonio Spurs are among the top destinations.
According to oddsmaker Bovada, the Spurs are among the teams Giannis could play, and the odds are set at +600.
Ahead of the Spurs are the Miami Heat (+150), Brooklyn Nets (+210), and the Houston Rockets (+400).
According to a report via CBS’ Bill Reiter, Milwaukee could make their franchise player available for a trade. The Bucks’ season is not off to a great start at a 1-6 record.
“There’s a rising sense of confidence that if things go badly in Milwaukee that Giannis could be available for trade, would really force his way out of Milwaukee in the next year,” Reiter said.
San Antonio is in a great spot to add Giannis if Milwaukee is set to part with him. The Spurs have many assets (draft picks, players to trade) to deal with the Bucks in a trade scenario, and adding him would be a massive boost to the rebuilding plans with him paired with Victor Wembanyama. Toss in San Antonio’s financial cap space, and the Spurs could be an enticing team Milwaukee would want to deal with.
In other words, the Spurs can attract the NBA veteran and compete with other teams.
However, his current contract is massive.
The 29-year-old signed a 3-year, $175,369,471 contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, including $175,369,471 guaranteed and an average annual salary of $58,456,490, according to Spotrac.
He has career averages of 23.4 points per game, 9.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
