San Antonio Spurs join other teams to launch the ‘Texas Sport for Healing Fund’

The San Antonio Spurs join other teams to launch a sports memorabilia auction to support flood relief in Central Texas.

SAN ANTONIO — In response to the devastating flooding in Central Texas, the San Antonio Spurs (including San Antonio FC) have joined 41 local and national professional sports organizations to launch the “Texas Sport for Healing Fund.”

Spurs fans can join and show their support for relief efforts through a national online auction featuring over 150 pieces of rare sports memorabilia from more than 80 sports teams and players.

For example, fans can bid on an autographed jersey of Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Jeremy Sochan. Fans can also bid on Spurs autographed basketballs.

“Our hearts ache for our neighbors who have lost so much in this tragedy,” said RC Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E), in a release. “Now, more than ever, it’s essential to lean on one another to help our community heal, and we’re inspired to see how many organizations have shown up in this time of need to stand together in establishing this fund. To all those hurting – we are here for you and continue to hold you in our hearts.”

This fund will support both immediate relief efforts and long-term recovery for the communities directly impacted by the flooding. The auction will close on Friday, August 8, and all auction proceeds will support the Texas Sport for Healing Fund.

Fans who wish to join the Texas and national sports community by contributing to the fund are invited to make a donation here.
