San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo returns for opening day of its 77th year

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is back for its 77th year, bringing 18 days of rodeo action, concerts and fairground fun.

SAN ANTONIO — Boots, bulls and big-time fun are back in the Alamo City as the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo kicks off its opening day at the Frost Bank Center and Freeman Coliseum.

Now in its 77th year, the rodeo brings 18 days of live music, livestock shows, competitions and fairground favorites for families across South Texas.

Gates to the rodeo grounds opened Thursday morning, with shopping, live entertainment and carnival rides scheduled throughout the day.

Fans can expect plenty of rodeo action, including events like barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping and classic bull riding. Students from FFA and 4-H programs will also take part in livestock shows, and crowd favorites like Mutton Bustin’ are once again part of the lineup.

General admission to the grounds starts at $15, with discounted tickets available for kids and seniors. Military members with valid ID can receive free admission.

Organizers encourage visitors to purchase tickets online ahead of time to save both time and money.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo runs through March 1, offering something for everyone, from live concerts to food, fun and unforgettable rodeo traditions.
