
San Antonio Zoo launches WILD BITE to educate guests on carnivore behavior through whole prey feedings.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Zoo is offering a wild new experience for guests to learn about carnivore behavior.
The experience is called WILD BITE: A Carnivorous Encounter and includes an up-close look at carnivores during a not-live whole prey feedings.
The new feature takes place Aug. 1 and will include a different carnivore every 30 minutes. The zoo plans to hold the WILD BITES events every three months while rotating species each time.
Below is the list of carnivores for the Aug. 1 encounter:
- 9:00 AM – African Wild Dogs
- 9:45 AM – Lions
- 10:30 AM – Jaguar
- 11:00 AM – Komodo Dragon
- 1:15 PM – Vultures
- 1:30 PM – Hyena
- 2:30 PM – Tiger
“This isn’t just exciting for the animals in our care—it’s an exciting educational opportunity for our community,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo. “WILD BITE lets animals do what they would naturally do in the wild, and when guests see that firsthand, they walk away with not just a memory, but a deeper appreciation and understanding for wildlife.”
The zoo is offering a way to opt out for guest who are may not want to witness the event. There will alternative pathways available.
WILD BITE: A Carnivorous Encounter will be included in standard zoo admission.
