SAN ANTONIO — The beloved children’s character “Dora” is being celebrated in the Alamo City for a major milestone.
The “Dora the Explorer” franchise is turning 25 years old and San Antonio Zoo is marking the anniversary with interactive activities for families, – inspired by the new live-action movie “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.”
Guests will journey through the zoo on a treasure hunt, using a map to discover animal facts hidden throughout San Antonio Zoo. After following each clue and meeting the animals, participants will head to the Zootennial Carousel ticket booth to claim their prize.
These new festivities begin on June 27 thanks to a partnership between San Antonio Zoo, Nickelodeon and Paramount+. Tickets are available now.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Nickelodeon and Paramount+ to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life at San Antonio Zoo,” Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo said. “For 25 years, Dora has inspired young explorers. We’re excited to celebrate this special milestone by offering families a unique opportunity to connect with animals and nature in a fun, interactive way!”
“Dora the Explorer” launched in August of 2000, quickly becoming a global pop-culture phenomenon. 25 years later the franchise is still recognized as one of the most-watched preschool shows of all time, according to a press release.
The series has been shown in more than 150 countries and territories and translated in 32 languages on Nickelodeon channels and Paramount+ around the globe and through syndication. The new movie “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado” premieres July 2.
The original series is 8 seasons long and received several awards including EMMY, Peabody, NAACP, Latino Spirit, Parents’ Choice and many others.
