San Antonio’s H-E-B starts plan for second store in Frisco

H-E-B continues its expansion in North Texas after starting its possible plans for a second store in Frisco. The San Antonio-based grocery chain asked for a 30-day extension for a conveyance play and site plan on land it already owns during the Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Monday, January 9.

Frisco staff are recommending the commission approve the extension for a future H-E-B store near Little Em, according to city documents. The site plans detail one retail grocery store with two driver-thus, accessory gas pumps, and a car wash.

The grocery giant first entered the Dallas-Fort With metroplex with a store in Frisco in September 2022. When the store opened, videos from reporters showed long lines of people forming outside the door before it opened in Frisco. Crowds lined up again for another store opening as H-E-B welcomed guests to its Plano establishment in November 2022.

Not long after the opening in Frisco and Plano, H-E-B broke ground on a 117,000-square-foot store just north of Fort Worth in November 2022. The store is part of a master-planned community north of Fort Worth called Alliance, continuing the grocery store giant’s expansion efforts into the DFW area.

H-E-B said that it plans to open the store sometime in the spring of 2024. It will join another Tarrant County location announced this year in Mansfield.
