SAN ANTONIO — Members of the Quintanilla family, including Suzette Quintanilla and her mother, Marcella recently visited Mi Tierra Café y Panadería in downtown San Antonio, where the restaurant continues to honor the legacy of the late Tejano star Selena Quintanilla.
The family stopped by the iconic restaurant, which features a special altar dedicated to Selena in its Mural Dining Room. The display remains a popular destination for fans from around the world who continue to celebrate the singer’s life and music.
The visit comes just over a month after the death of the family patriarch, Abraham Quintanilla, who died Dec. 13, 2025, at the age of 86. His son, A.B. Quintanilla, announced his death on social media.
Abraham Quintanilla was widely regarded as the driving force behind Selena’s rise to fame. He founded her band, Selena y Los Dinos, and served as her manager throughout her career, helping guide her from local performances to international recognition.
Selena, known as the “Queen of Tejano,” scored major hits including “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “Como La Flor.” She won a Grammy Award in 1993 for Best Mexican-American Album, becoming one of the most influential Latin artists of her generation.
Her career was cut short in 1995 when she was murdered at the age of 23 by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. In the decades since her death, Abraham Quintanilla remained closely involved in preserving her legacy and connecting with fans.
