The Rock at La Cantera opens a new splash pad, enhancing their outdoor space with family-friendly activities.
SAN ANTONIO — The heat wave this week has a lot of families looking for ways to beat the heat and splashpads are a grand tradition in this weather.
That’s why the Rock at La Cantera just opened up their own version of the kid-friendly activity.
A new splash pad opened up this week at the event center’s outdoor space and photos show it even has shade covering it…a very important aspect for any South Texas splashpad.
The outdoor space has become popular for movie nights and sports games, with families setting up their own picnics and camping chairs. Food trucks are also on site to grab a bite to eat. Some upcoming events include a Grease Singalong on May 18 and an Enchanted Singalong on May 25.
Construction at the Rock at La Cantera began in 2021 with a groundbreaking. The 45-acre mixed-use space includes the Victory Capital Performance Center, dog park and Frost Plaza. It officially opened to the public in 2023.
The facility is $500 million legacy project for the entire Spurs Sports & Entertainment organization. The name was inspired by the Spurs longtime mantra, the campus name pays homage to “pounding the rock.” The concept of pounding the rock guides the Spurs in their mission…not as a tally of wins and losses, but as a steadfast commitment to daily incremental improvements.
