San Antonio’s Pearl District lands in top 10 U.S. shopping destinations list

San Antonio’s Pearl District ranks as the nation’s sixth and Texas’ top shopping destination, according to MarketBeat.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio’s Pearl District is getting national recognition, landing among the most envied shopping destinations in the country, according to a new report.

A ranking from MarketBeat placed the Pearl at No. 6 nationwide and No. 1 in Texas, highlighting retail or shopping districts that are ranked for their design, character and overall experience.

The 40-acre development, which continues to expand, was recognized for blending historic architecture with modern retail, dining and community programs and activities. The Pearl is home to 34 independent food and beverage concepts, with seven more expected to open this year, including Loverboy House Eats and (a)mar.

“Pearl’s independent retailers and food concepts are truly at the heart of this place,” said Beth Smith, vice president of public relations and media for Silver Ventures, the Pearl’s parent company. “They bring personality, craftsmanship and spirit to every storefront and every menu.”

Pearl visitors can find a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants, bookstores, and wellness or specialty shops, including Pullman Market, Adelante Boutique, Dos Carolinas, The Twig Book Shop and others.

Officials said they plan to continue evolving the space with new concepts and experiences in the hopes that locals and visitors will continue to stop by Pearl District.
