On Saturday night, police revealed that Jermiah Jayden Tobias had been arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder.
SAN MARCOS, Texas — Police in San Marcos arrested a suspect accused of shooting and killing two young men early Saturday morning near Texas State University. Now they’re looking another person they believe is involved.
Officers were dispatched to San Antonio Street at Guadalupe Street for reports of shots fired around 1:30 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they found the two victims dead at the scene.
They are not believed to be students at Texas State University.
According to police, the shooting was the result of a fight that broke out between two people who knew each other. A third man then joined the fight when he allegedly stole a necklace from one of the men initially involved.
As the situation escalated, a fourth person allegedly fired multiple gunshots, fatally striking two people. Police say Anthony Barrera, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene while Alek Pacheco, 20, died in the hospital. A third victim was taken to the hospital and was released.
Police say that several people were detained for questioning and subsequently released.
On Saturday night, police revealed that 19-year-old Jermiah Jayden Tobias had been arrested just after 8 p.m. He now faces two counts of capital murder charges and one count of aggravated assault.
On Sunday, San Marcos police said they are looking for another suspect, Avery Saul Bowman Jr., who they say was also involved in the shooting.


They are also seeking information locating an unidentified witness, pictured below, who recorded the altercation.
