Santa ‘Wemby’ and elf Julian Champagnie deliver gifts to local kids; Austin Spurs update

‘Wemby’-claus and elf Champagnie put smiles on local children before Christmas day.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs players Victor Wembanyama and Julian Champagnie got in the holiday spirit by helping deliver Christmas gifts to local children.

The pair continued the tradition of dressing up as Santa and his elves to deliver gifts to kids. Families were also gifted Spurs swag bags in partnership with JW Marriott during the event. Each year, the event is organized by Elf Louise and Opportunity Homes.

This event tips off the Spurs annual “Season of Giving” to help the San Antonio community during the holiday season.

This season, the Spurs have provided beds for children, served Thanksgiving dinner to families, and will have many other events to help San Antonio.

AUSTIN SPURS UPDATE

The Austin Spurs (8-3) saw their five-game winning streak stop with a loss to the Memphis Hustle (5-7), 100-96, Saturday night at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.

2024 G League Draft pick Isaiah Miller led the Spurs with 21 points, while Malachi Flynn contributed 18 points and four assists. Riley Minix finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, and Jamaree Bouyea added 13. 

The Austin Spurs travel to Edinburg, TX, to face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Bert Ogden Arena. Spurs fans can watch the game on ESPN+.
