SAPD: 2 killed, others hurt after stolen car crashes into bus on I-35

Eighteen people were hospitalized as of 4 p.m. Thursday, according to Chief McManus. Authorities are looking for four suspects.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Fire Department says two people were killed and 18 others were injured in an accident involving a small shuttle bus and a Camaro. 

The accident happened just after 2:30 p.m. on I-35 at Leon Creek, near Cassin Road, on the southwest side of San Antonio.

Police Chief William McManus said a stolen white Camaro was speeding down I-35 when it crashed into a transport bus carrying a trailer. 

Authorities said two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, and 18 people were taken to the hospital with injuries. He said the victims who were injured range from adults to young children.

McManus said they are looking for four individuals who fled the Camaro and one suspect was armed with an AK-style rifle. 

I-35 is closed at Leon Creek while crews work to clear the accident. Drivers are urged to seek other routes if possible.
