SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department is on the scene where two people and two dogs were found dead in a tent on the east side.
Around 3 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of South Gevers Street after receiving a medical call saying two people were found unresponsive in a tent.
Upon arrival, police said they found what appeared to be a dead man and woman inside of a tent along with two dead dogs.
There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play, but the deceased were in the early stages of decomposition. Police believe that the couple may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of trying to stay warm using plastic tarps and heat from a fire.
The Medical Examiner came and removed the bodies so they could determine their identities and the exact cause of death.
“There is a suspicious nature to this, which is why they are here,” said Lt. Efrain Gonzalez, SAPD Eastside.
