SAN ANTONIO — Two people were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after San Antonio police said they robbed an armored truck driver at gunpoint at a southeast-side drive-thru ATM.
Police said two individuals driving a black four-door vehicle drove up to the armored truck driver stopped at a Chase ATM on the 1100 block of Goliad Road. That’s when police said the suspects, a male and female who appear to be in their early to mid 20s, pulled a gun on the victim and demanded money.
The two suspects were able to get away with some of the money and fled the location, according to officials.
Authorities said multiple officers in the area identified a vehicle driving erratically nearby and conducted a traffic stop. The individuals inside the vehicle pulled into a nearby street where police said the female passenger attempted to flee on foot.
The female suspect was captured down the street and the male driver, who stayed in the vehicle, was also detained without incident—according to police.
Officials said a bag of money was located nearby and police are still looking for other items of interest including the firearm.
No word yet on what charges the suspects could be facing. Authorities said the armored truck driver was not hurt.
This is an ongoing investigation.
