SAPD: 21-year-old man charged with animal cruelty after allegedly hurting girlfriend’s cat

The cat named “Wolfie” suffered a dislocated jaw and other injuries at the hands of the suspect, according to an arrest affidavit.

SAN ANTONIO — A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after allegedly harming his girlfriend’s cat, according to an arrest affidavit.

The incident happened on October 30 in the 300 block of West Sunset Road near Broadway.

Raymond Jules Bomhack was arrested after police say he harmed his girlfriend’s cat while she was at work. Bomhack admitted to officers that he was trying “to cuddle Wolfie at which time the cat became agitated and scratched him,” the affidavit states. He also told animal control officers he hit “Wolfie” in the head, causing a red spot in one of his eyes.

The cat’s owner told police that she came home to check on her cat after receiving text messages from her boyfriend about the incident.

She said that her boyfriend, Bomhack, claimed he was trying to give the cat a bath when he was scratched by him. The girlfriend believes he may have been trying to drown her cat, says the affidavit. She told officers she found “Wolfie” hidden in her room with it’s jaw stuck open and drooling.

“Wolfie” was taken to an emergency pet clinic and had to undergo surgery after X-Rays were done and showed the cat had a dislocated jaw, pooling of blood to one eye, and swelling to the nose and mouth.

Bomhack is being charged with animal cruelty, which is a felony.
