SAN ANTONIO — A hit-and-run accident on the far south side has left three people dead, according to San Antonio police.
The three-vehicle crash was around Highway 281 between South Flores and Roosevelt around 4:50 a.m.
Police say one driver was aggressively driving at a “high rate of speed,” according to witnesses. They think the vehicle hit the rear of another vehicle, pushing it into ongoing traffic.
Three people have been confirmed dead at the scene due to the accident by police. One other person was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.
The suspect that caused the accident reportedly fled on foot after their vehicle was no longer operable. Police are in the process of locating this suspect, charges pending. No information about the suspect is currently available.
Police have not identified the three people killed, but they say it “looks like they were all adults.”
That stretch of road is expected to be closed for at least two more hours as police investigate.
This is a developing story and further details will be added as they are received.
