More than a dozen people were hospitalized as of 4 p.m. Thursday, according to Chief McManus. Authorities are looking for four suspects.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio authorities say four people were killed and at least a dozen others injured when a stolen Camaro crashed into “a small transport bus carrying a trailer” as it was speeding along a highway Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Interstate 35 at Leon Creek, near Cassin Road, on the southwest side. Southbound lanes were still shut down hours later.
Police Chief William McManus said authorities were looking for four suspects who fled the Camaro after the wreck, one of them armed with an AK-style rifle.
A representative with Transportes Guerras, a shuttle bus company whose vehicle was involved in the crash, said it was heading from Fort Worth to Eagle Pass. The company asked in a Facebook post that anyone who may have had loved ones on the bus call them via one of three phone numbers:
- (830) 319-5168
- (862) 109-7187
- (682) 758=1055
The identities of the victims haven’t been provided, but McManus said two killed at the scene were believed to be older adults. Two others died after they were taken to University Hospital, according to officials.
Some of those hurt, McManus said, were children.
“This is going to be quite an extensive investigation here,” he said.
Drivers are urged to seek other routes, if possible, while crews work to clear the scene.

A representative at University Hospital said the facility treated 15 patients, including the two who died after arriving. As of Thursday evening, at least two others are in critical condition.
The hospital also said four of the patients were pediatric and all “in good condition.”
This is a developing story.
