A 4-year-old boy was tragically shot and killed in northwest San Antonio. An investigation is underway.
SAN ANTONIO — A 4-year-old boy was shot and killed at a northwest-side home Monday afternoon, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
SAPD Chief William McManus said police officers responded to a shooting in progress on the 10000 Block of Windstone Creek just after 3 p.m. Police received two phone calls, one from inside the home and another from outside the home.
Upon arrival, officers found a 4-year-old child with a gunshot wound while the father of the boy was performing life-saving measures.
McManus said the child was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the weapon used was a handgun but it’s unclear on what lead up to the shooting. McManus did say the shooting occurred inside the home and only mom, dad and the child were inside. The parents were detained for questioning.
Police did not say if any charges will be filed in this case.
SAPD continues to investigate.
