SAPD: 65-year-old man dies after crossing intersection with ‘don’t walk’ signal; driver not facing charges

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver cooperated with police and at this time, there will be no criminal charges.

SAN ANTONIO — A 65-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car at a west-side intersection, according to police.

At about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, the man was found lying in the roadway around the intersection of 800 S. Zarzamora and 2400 Guadalupe St. He was reportedly unresponsive.

Police say a brown Mazda Tribute was driving northbound on S. Zarzamora towards the intersection. The man was crossing Zarzamora with a “don’t walk” signal, according to police. The Mazda had the green light, and proceeded, hitting the man.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police. At this time, there will be no criminal charges.
