Police say other security guards returned fire as the suspect was attempting to drive away, stopping him in his tracks.
SAN ANTONIO — Police say a man who was causing a disturbance at a bar on the southwest side of town shot a security guard after he was removed from the establishment.
It happened around 12:40 a.m. Sunday at the El Patio Sports Bar on Frio City Road.
Police say the suspect was causing some sort of disturbance so he was removed from the bar by security. The two men got into a fight in the parking lot and the suspect went and got a gun from his vehicle and shot the guard.
Police say other security guards returned fire as the suspect was attempting to drive away, stopping him in his tracks.
The suspect was detained by security until police arrived. The security guard was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police have the suspect in custody for further questioning. No other injuries were reported.
