SAPD: Body of man found in San Antonio River

A deceased man was found in the San Antonio River on Tuesday, January 9. The body was discovered in the river near East Nueva Street. 

A San Antonio Police spokesperson told MySA the man was deceased when the body was discovered. A report by the San Antonio-Express News says the body was discovered by construction workers when they arrived to work, and that the body has been recovered from the river. 

SAPD and San Antonio Park Police are investigating, and the cause of death will be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner. This story is breaking and will be updated as more details become available. 

In 2023, at least two people died in the San Antonio River.

In June, a jogger discovered the body Roy Tavitas, 62, near the 400 block of King William Street. In July, 45-year-old Selvin Salgado died after he was fishing on the river and accidentally fell into a deep part of the river near River and Center Roads.
