SAPD: Child shot in knee after someone fired shots near their west-side home

Police say a mother and her two kids were getting ready for bed when someone fired the shots near their trailer just west of downtown.

SAN ANTONIO — A child was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after getting shot by a stray bullet in his west-side home.

Police say a mother and her two children were getting ready for bed around 10:30 p.m. Monday when someone started shooting through the fence outside on Leal Street near West Martin Street. A bullet came through the wall of their trailer and struck the 9-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his knee.

No other injuries were reported. No description was provided on the suspect or suspects.
