A Christmas celebration turned violent in northeast San Antonio when a confrontation escalated to a stabbing, police say.

SAN ANTONIO — A Christmas celebration turned violent on the northeast side when an unwanted guest arrived, SAPD says.

Police say a family was celebrating Christmas in their front yard in the 5900 block of Castle Hunt around 1:22 a.m. Thursday. That’s when police say a man walked by who lived down the street.

The father “did not like this man” and confronted him. Police say the father punched the man and the man walked home.

A few minutes later, the man came back with some friends and allegedly stabbed the father in the chest and hit the father’s son across the forehead with a baseball bat.

The suspects fled the scene.

The father was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The son was taken to the hospital with a gash and a bump on the forehead. He is in stable condition.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
