SAPD: Christmas gathering turns violence on northeast side; man in hospital after being stabbed in the chest

A Christmas celebration turned violent in northeast San Antonio when a confrontation escalated to a stabbing, police say.

SAN ANTONIO — A Christmas celebration turned violent on the northeast side when an unwanted guest arrived, SAPD says.

Police say a family was celebrating Christmas in their front yard in the 5900 block of Castle Hunt around 1:22 a.m. Thursday. That’s when police say a man walked by who lived down the street.

The 56-year-old father “did not like this man” and confronted him. Police say the father punched the man and the man walked home.

10 minutes later, the man came back with some friends and allegedly stabbed the father in the chest and hit the father’s son across the forehead with a baseball bat.

The three suspects fled the scene.

The father was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The son was taken to the hospital with a gash and a bump on the forehead. He is in stable condition.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
