SAPD: Clerk stabbed several times in back by robbery suspect

Police say the suspect walked into the store with a knife in his hand and pointed at the cash register without saying anything.

SAN ANTONIO — A gas station clerk was stabbed several times in the back by a robbery suspect just after midnight Monday on the west side of town.

San Antonio police responded to the reported robbery at the Shell station located in the 8600 block of U.S. Highway 90 at Loop 410.

Police say the suspect walked into the store with a knife in his hand and pointed at the cash register without saying anything. 

The clerk wouldn’t open the register and that’s when the suspect jumped over the counter the clerk tried to avoid him, but was stabbed in the back multiple times. He was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.

Officers say the suspect grabbed a few random items and fled on foot. No description was provided of the suspect.
