The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the site of a new Holiday Inn hotel being built in northwest San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was pronounced dead after falling from a lift Thursday evening at the construction site of a new hotel in the Rim area, San Antonio police said.
An officer on the scene said authorities responded to the 5700 block of Rim Pass around 4:15 p.m. He said the fire department attempted to revive the unidentified man, but were unsuccessful.
“No one else was hurt, injured, anything like that,” the officer said. “It was simply a workplace accident.”
It’s unknown how far the man fell, nor what might have caused the fall. A KENS 5 crew on the scene observed heavy equipment picking up a lift that had apparently toppled over.
A construction filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a six-story, $10 million Holiday Inn hotel has been under construction at the site since November 2024.
