SAPD: Driver critically injured after another driver sideswipes him, drives off

The suspect will face multiple charges when found.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was critically injured after another driver sideswiped his vehicle while driving on the west side of town, then took off without stopping following the incident.

It happened around 10:49 p.m. Friday on Culebra Road at Northwest 19th Street, not far from Woodlawn Lake.

The 32-year-old victim told officers he was driving his 2005 Dodge Caravan heading east on Culebra Road when the suspect in a 2000 Toyota 4Runner veered to the left, hit the curb, and crosses into the eastbound lanes just before the intersection. As the driver in the Toyota crossed into the eastbound lanes, their vehicle hit the Dodge, causing that driver to lose control and veer into westbound lanes.

A 2011 F-150 also traveling eastbound was sideswiped by the reckless driver and that vehicle sustained minor damage

The Toyota driver failed to stop and provide his information to the other drivers, as well as render any aid.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

When found, the driver of the Toyota will be charged with one count of Collision Involving Serious Bodily Injury and one count of Collision Involving Damage to vehicle.

This case remains under investigation.
