SAPD: Driver hits utility pole, raised patio after speeding on the south side

The man was taken to the hospital with a head injury. Police say there were no signs of intoxication.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is in the hospital after hitting a utility pole on the south side early Thursday morning, according to police.

The man exited the highway around the area of the 400 block of Hawthorn around 2:26 a.m. Police say the man was driving at a “high rate of speed,” causing him to crash into a utility pole and into a raised patio. He did not hit the house, according to police.

The man was taken to the hospital with a head injury. Police say there were no signs of intoxication.
