SAPD: Early morning crash involving 18-wheeler shuts down I-35 North for period of time

According to police, a Dodge Journey hit an 18-wheeler, causing the 18-wheeler to hit the center concrete median.

SAN ANTONIO — I-35 North was shut down for a period of time early Saturday morning after a major accident involving an 18-wheeler, according to authorities.

At about 3:15 a.m., officers were called to the 2600 block of I-35 N for a major accident.

According to police, a Dodge Journey hit an 18-wheeler, causing the 18-wheeler to hit the center concrete median.

The highway was shut down with all traffic being diverted onto the access road for a period of time.

The driver of the Dodge refused to cooperate with the investigation, according to police, and was taken to the hospital for medical precaution. She did however admit she had drunk alcohol before she drove.

Charges for DWI for the driver are pending.

No other major injuries were reported.
