A couple was sleeping in their home early Saturday morning when the wife woke up the husband saying she heard something.

SAN ANTONIO — An alleged shootout between a burglar and a homeowner broke out early Saturday morning, police say.

Around 3:23 a.m. a husband and wife were sleeping in their home located in the 100 block of Evandale Drive. The wife then woke up the husband saying she heard something.

The husband grabbed his handgun and went to investigate. That’s when he saw an unknown man “glancing at him from one of the rooms.”

The husband, fearing for his safety, fired several gunshots at the suspect. Fleeing, the suspect jumped out the window and began shooting back from his own firearm, striking the house.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect as of Saturday morning has not been located.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
