SAPD: Intoxicated driver arrested after running over, killing man on the northwest side

The driver, a man in his mid-30s, was found to be intoxicated by police. He has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

SAN ANTONIO — One person has died after a crash on the northwest side, according to officials.

Officials say the crash happened at Loop 410 near Culebra Road around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a white pickup truck was driving southbound on the access road of 410 when they went to take the turnaround.

According to witnesses, the truck was speeding and only heard braking while going over the curb and running over a man sitting on the median. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Richard Craig Acord, 55.

The driver, 36-year-old Elias Antonio Huitron, was found to be intoxicated by police. He has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
