The man police believed was experiencing homelessness was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — A man police think was experiencing homelessness is in critical condition after he was found unconscious in the middle of the road, according to police.

At around 10:45 p.m. Friday night, SAPD received a call for a man lying in the middle of the access road located in the 5000 block of North Loop 1604 West and Tradesman Drive.

That’s where police found a man injured and unconscious. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the man was hit by a vehicle, who fled the scene. Officials closed the access road while units worked the scene. Due to construction in the area, it created an even bigger traffic jam.

No other injuries have been reported.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
