SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio teacher is accused of taking pictures of a student’s private parts while in the classroom, according to an arrest affidavit.
Augustine Rodney Rendon, 29, was charged with invasive visual recording, a state felony.
Police said a 7-year-old girl told her mother that her elementary school teacher, identified as Rendon, called her up to his desk. The victim said Rendon originally had his phone on his desk but moved the phone to his lap with the camera lens facing the little girl.
According to the affidavit, the victim told her mother that while she was at Rendon’s desk he began taking photos underneath her skirt of her private areas.
Documents state that Rendon also reportedly placed his leg between the the victim’s legs and told her to separate her legs further. The victim said it was during that time that she heard what sounded like the phone’s camera shutter going off multiple times.
The victim’s mother made a police report with SAPD in March.
Authorities said a ChildSafe interview was conducted with the victim who said she believed her teacher took intimate photos of her private parts under her skirt.
SAPD was able to execute a search warrant for Rendon’s place of residence and seized electronic devices.
Authorities said there were eight pictures on Rendon’s phone taken at the time of the incident. Six of the photos showed the area underneath the victim’s skirt of her private areas.
According to the affidavit, the victim’s mother was able to identify her daughter’s shoes and shorts in the picture. The mother said the shorts are attached to the skirt.
The affidavit did not state what school district the teacher worked at.
