Police said 40-year-old Juan Vasquez faces charges after detectives found an estimated half a million dollars worth of drugs at his home on Tuesday.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police said a traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted man and a massive drug bust at a north-side home on Tuesday.
SAPD Public Information Officer Nick Soliz said 40-year-old Juan Vasquez was being surveyed by detectives for the past two months as someone known to transport narcotics and a lengthy criminal history.
Soliz said officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect at around 12:30 p.m. near Basse Road and McCollough Avenue. Police said multiple narcotics were found and Vasquez was arrested.
From this investigation, SAPD said detectives obtained a search warrant to Vasquez’s home on the 100 block of Dean Street.
At the home, police said detectives found 40 to 50 kilograms of methamphetamine, over a kilogram of heroin and multiple firearms.
Soliz said the massive narcotics bust had a street value of an estimated half a million dollars.
Vasquez faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams with intent to distribute or manufacture, according to police, and federal charges may be pending.
This is an active investigation.
