SAPD: Man arrested in connection to brutal murder of woman found in bathtub

Philip Ramirez, 40, was taken into custody by SAPD and is accused of murdering Andrea Anzaldua on October 18, 2024.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested in connection to a brutal murder last year and taken to Bexar County Jail on Tuesday.

Philip Ramirez, 40, was taken into custody by SAPD and is accused of murdering Andrea Anzaldua on October 18, 2024.

Ramirez called 9-1-1 saying Anzaldua had overdosed at an apartment in the 9800 block of Fredericksburg Road, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police say Anzaldua was found dead in the bathtub with bruising and wounds on her upper body. Police found blood throughout the apartment, as well as bloody clothes and cleaning pads that showed signs of tampering before officers arrived, the affidavit says.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled Anzaldua’s death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Court records show that Ramirez’s bond is set at $150,000 dollars.
