SAPD: Man assaulted, car stolen during early morning robbery on south side

A 22-year-old man was assaulted and had his car stolen after a suspect pulled up in a black Mercedes and attacked him early Sunday, police say.

SAN ANTONIO — SAN ANTONIO — Police are searching for a suspect after a man was assaulted and robbed of his car early Sunday morning on the south side of San Antonio.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of East Southcross Boulevard around 2:03 a.m. for reports of a robbery in progress.

According to San Antonio police, a 22-year-old man was sitting in his parked vehicle when someone in a black Mercedes pulled up next to him. The victim got out of his car and began talking with the person inside the other vehicle.

Police say the suspect then got out of the Mercedes, assaulted the victim and stole his car before officers arrived.

The suspect took off in the victim’s vehicle. No arrests have been made. Police did not provide a description of the victim’s vehicle.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and details could change as police continue to look for the suspect.
