SAPD: Man attacks nephew with machete after argument at south side residence

The 35-year-old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police said a verbal argument at a south side home ended with a man in the hospital Thursday afternoon after he was attacked by a family member.

An SAPD spokesperson said officers were dispatched to the residence on the 300 block of Givens Avenue for a reported cutting.

According to police, an uncle and his nephew were in the backyard of the home where they both live when a verbal argument broke out. Police said the uncle then grabbed a machete and started swinging at his nephew, striking him on both hands.

The 35-year-old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and has been transported to University Hospital.

The 33-year-old suspect was detained by police. No word on any charges at this time but police say he could face an aggravated assault charge.

No one else was injured.
