When officers arrived at the pub, they found the victim behind the bar with a gunshot wound to his lower back and another on his butt. The victim told officers that he and his friends were having drinks at the bar when he first noticed the suspect, who was alone.

The victim  said he and his friends exited the bar to wait for their ride when the suspect walked towards them carrying a weapon. The two struggled and fell to the ground, and the victim tried to run off. That’s when the suspect began firing off his weapon, hitting the victim in the back and buttocks.

The victim told officers he went back inside the bar to wait for police and EMS to arrive. The suspect took off before officers arrived.

Witnesses provided police with videos of the incident that corroborated the victim’s story. The bartender was able to provide police with the receipt from the suspect’s bar tab that had his name on it. Officers were able to locate the suspect at the address associated with the credit card information and found a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

The registered owner’s name was found to have an emergency contact which is the same as the name that was on the receipt provided by the bartender.

Police say the victim was also able to identify the suspect in a lineup of six men.

Cavazos was arrested on the felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
