SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after San Antonio police said an argument outside a south-side apartment complex ended with gunfire early Friday morning.
The violence unfolded just after 1 a.m. when police said two men got into a heated argument in the parking lot at the Gardens at San Juan Square apartments on the 2000 block of South Zarzamora Street.
Officers said the 29-year-old suspect walked away from the dispute and went back to his apartment. That’s when the man police are calling the victim followed the suspect to his apartment and started banging on his door.
Investigators said the suspect opened fire, shooting through his apartment door. The 35-year-old victim was hit multiple times and tumbled down the stairs.
He was rushed to the hospital where he later died, according to officials. Police believe the victim provoked the shooter.
The suspect turned himself in to responding officers and was detained at the scene, according to police. At this time, investigators are working to determine whether or not he faces charges.
