SAPD: Man dead after jumping in Elmendorf Lake Friday night

Police say there is nothing criminal about this situation as of Saturday morning. However, they do say narcotics may have been involved.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is now dead after drowning in Elmendorf Lake Friday night, according to police.

Police say a man jumped into the lake located around the intersection of West Commerce and NW 26th near the Apache Creek Greenway around 9:45 p.m.

The man never resurfaced, according to police. Someone who was with the man told police another person tried jumping in to rescue him but was not able to.

SAFD Rescue 11 took out boats and rafts to search the lake. Eventually they found the original man who jumped in deceased. They were unable to locate anyone else. That man has not been identified.

Police say there is nothing criminal about this situation as of Saturday morning. However, they do say narcotics may have been involved.

There were no other injuries reported.
