SAPD: Man dead after struck by car while crossing street

The driver did stop to render aid at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was killed after being struck by a driver while trying to cross the street on the northeast side of town early Monday morning.

It happened just before 5 a.m. near the 6900 block of Walzem Road close to Gibbs Sprawl Road.

Officers say the man was crossing the street when he as hit by a driver in a sedan. The driver did stop and call for help.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges are being filed against the driver at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
