SAN ANTONIO — A man is fighting life-threatening injuries after his vehicle that had two children inside collided with a commercial vehicle Friday afternoon.

SAPD was called to the intersection of Division and Commercial Avenue for a major accident involving two vehicles around 3:43 p.m.

Police say the accident involved a commercial vehicle and a sedan. The commercial vehicle was allegedly driving eastbound on Division Avenue while the sedan was driving northbound on Commercial Avenue when it tried to turn left onto Division. That’s when the accident took place, according to police. It’s still unclear how the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the sedan, a man in his late 30s, was taken to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. Two children, a boy and a girl, were in the back seat. The children, aged about 10 and 4, were evaluated on the scene. It’s unclear if the children received any injuries.

The commercial driver doesn’t have any injuries and stopped and rendered aid. He will not be facing any charges at this point.

There were no signs of intoxication for either driver, police say.
