SAPD: Man fatally shot by woman during domestic altercation at east-side hotel

A man is dead after a woman claims she shot him in self-defense at the same Knights Inn where a deadly shooting involving SAPD officers took place over the weekend.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after San Antonio police said a woman shot him multiple times in a domestic altercation at an east-side hotel early Thursday morning.

According to police, a man in his 30s or 40s was fatally shot at the Knights Inn located on the 4000 block of East Houston Street at around 1 a.m. This is the same hotel where a man was shot and killed by SAPD officers during a disturbance call late Saturday night.

Police said the woman in her 20s told officers the man was assaulting her so she pulled a gun and shot him in self-defense. During the alleged altercation, police said the woman accidentally shot herself in the arm.

The man died at the scene and the woman was picked up by a family member and taken to a home on the 700 block of Carolina Street where she called for EMS, according to officials. She was transported to a  hospital in stable condition.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case. No word yet on if the woman will face any charges.

This is a developing story.
