SAPD: Man fatally shot on west side, suspect at large

Police said it is unknown at this time what led up to the shooting and the victim has not yet been positively identified.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning on the city’s west side, according to San Antonio police.

SAPD said officers were called around 4:27 a.m. to the 5600 block of Culebra Road for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered a man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

San Antonio Fire Department personnel made the scene and shortly after pronounced the man dead.

According to police, witnesses told officers they saw a man wearing all black running from the area on foot. Investigators said that individual is believed to be the suspect but no arrests have been made at this time. No further suspect description was available.

Police said it is unknown at this time what led up to the shooting and the victim has not yet been positively identified.

Officials note that this is still an active investigation and the preliminary information above is subject to change.
