SAPD: Man shot outside ‘estranged’ girlfriend’s apartment expected to be OK

According to SAPD, a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot Monday afternoon while knocking on the door of his “estranged” girlfriend’s apartment on the northwest side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Authorities said nearby officers were working an unrelated burglary report near the 12200 block of Vance Jackson Road around 1:45 p.m., when they were notified by a maintenance worker that someone was shot at the apartment complex. When officers arrived, police found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to SAPD, a 35-year-old woman, believed to be the man’s estranged girlfriend, was taken into custody at the scene. The man told officers he was outside her apartment when someone shot through the door, striking him.

A sergeant on scene said the man told officers a man shot him and took off in a vehicle.
