
Authorities said the estranged girlfriend has been detained for questioning.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot Monday afternoon while knocking on the door of his “estranged” girlfriend’s apartment on the northwest side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Authorities said nearby officers were working an unrelated burglary report near the 12200 block of Vance Jackson Road around 1:45 p.m., when they were notified by a maintenance worker that someone was shot at the apartment complex. Police found a man in his 30’s with a gunshot wound to his chest.
According to SAPD, the victim told officers he was outside his estranged girlfriend’s apartment when someone shot through the door, striking him.
The man was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.
Authorities said the estranged girlfriend has been detained for questioning. A sergeant on scene said the victim had told officers a man shot him and took off in a vehicle.
