SAPD needs your help tracking down man with active warrants

San Antonio police seek help finding 22 year old Brayam Bernal wanted for aggravated assault among other charges.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police need your help tracking down a man with multiple warrants.

Police are looking for 22 year old Brayam Bernal who has warrants for aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Ana Carpio, a San Antonio, shared an online post accusing Bernal of having a part in the death of her son, Sebastian.

We reached out to SAPD and they say Bernal’s warrants are not related to Sebastian’s murder.

SAPD added they can’t confirm a suspect in a case unless they have a tie to it or the suspect is arrested and has gone through the magistrate.

In September 2020, Sebastian Carpio was found with a gunshot wound in a burnt car in a remote Bexar County pasture.

Edgar de la Cruz is serving a 25-year sentence for Carpio’s death and aggravated robbery.

Last year, Felipe Perez was sentenced to eight years after pleading guilty for trying to get rid of a shotgun and a phone connected to the case.

Ana was in the court pushing to get Perez the maximum 10 year sentence.

“This is a picture that shows Sebastian’s charred skeleton remains,” said Ana Carpio, Sebastian’s mother. “You weren’t the one who pulled the trigger on the gun that killed my son but your actions after the fact were as if you killed Sebastian a second time.”

Edgar de la Cruz took a plea deal with his sentence, giving investigators multiple names of people tied to the case.

Carpio told us she wants everyone held accountable for her son’s death.

Carpio shared online each conviction represents a step towards healing, closure, and a way to honor Sebastian’s memory.
